Filters are the cheapest part of an engine and the easiest to order wrong. Packaging rarely tells you whether a quote covers an element, a cap or a complete housing, and a filter that fits the thread can still be the wrong specification. These guides take one filter decision at a time: what is in the box, which way the fuel flows, and which housing the engine actually has.

Oil filter housings and package scope

Spin-on and cartridge systems are not interchangeable, and the part number decides what you receive.

Fuel filters, flow direction and system layout

Flow direction, port type and pressure-side context decide whether a fuel filter is the right part — not the thread.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether a quote includes the housing?

The part number and the exploded drawing do. If the listing only shows an element, assume the housing is separate and confirm with the supplier before ordering. Package scope is the most common reason a filtration order arrives incomplete.

Can a cartridge filter be fitted into a spin-on housing?

No. The two systems seal differently — a cartridge seals on the cap or housing, a spin-on seals on its own gasket face. Confirm the housing style on the engine before ordering.
